There is no Harley Quinn but Arleen Sorkin. Without her the character would never have been so highly adopted and loved.
I love the story of how Sorkin inspired Harley Quinn. My mom watched Days of Our Lives and so did my grandma, so of course I watched it as a kid.
How could anyone know that a cheesy soap opera (rife with amnesia, avalanches, and the continuous death and rebirth of Stefano DiMera) would influence a completely different genre of television and movies.
But Arleen Sorkin’s role on the show was so dynamic that all it took was a silly costume episode for animators to see more in her.
She was a fire-cracker and that boom is probably sounding off teasing Kevin Conry (the voice of Batman) in heaven.
