80-Year-Old Dancer Judith Jamison to Be Honored By the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

Dance is the expression of the soul through movement. I love the arts and have always supported them. I was a singer and danced for years.

Performing live creates a magical bond between creatives and their audience. It’s an energy that can be felt and shared.

My eldest danced ballet for 9 years. She enjoyed the loving community of St. Louis Ballet and also performed with the world-renowned Russian ballet.

So writing about Judith Jamison is pure love. I didn’t expect to get as sentimental as I did while writing my latest article this morning, but that comes with the job.

I especially enjoyed her shared sentiments and those of Alvin Ailey on appreciating the opportunity to work in a creative field.

Although I am no longer a singer or dancer and rarely perform outside of the house, my writing is a gift that I wake up grateful to share everyday. I know there are at least a thousand other writers who would love the successes I’ve had, maybe even millions, so sharing Judith’s story while living out my own is just… perfect!
