Arresting peaceful protesters because they are political dissidents is what dictators do. Anyone who says differently is either lying or selling something.

Our legal system is being manipulated and everyone knows it. Just look at how the DOJ is going after journalists who were at the Jan. 6, 2021 protest. I wanted to be there, I hadn’t really dived into journalism yet. That came later, because of how the media continued to lie and attack honest hardworking Americans.

I believed that it was important to go from a private citizen’s perspective, because the inconsitsencies in our election system have been occuring for years. Democrats used to scream about it when someone they didn’t like got into office, but when the tables turned they suddenly changed their position, because it benefitted them.

No one should ever be afraid to peacefully protest. No one should be politically persecuted for expressing their views. This is America. Our First Amendment rights are sacred, and so is our ownership of our system of governance.

No American citizen should be jailed for walking through a building that THEY pay for with their tax dollars. That is our building. Washington belongs to us and everyone who works there serves the people, even the ones they disagree with.
