After months of raising chickens and enjoying all their awkward grace, our feathery babies are laying eggs!

It started last week, and now, each time we check the roosting boxes, the kids are extra excited.

I love animals and nature and life, but I didn’t realize how sappy I’d be about a couple of little eggs. When you have chickens, eggs are magical. They’re a personal gift that reminds you of all the wonders life has to offer.

It’s been a fun couple of months feeding the chickens pumpkins and getting them ready for winter.

My son wants to get them a little tree to decorate for Yule and we might do some fun birdseed ornaments. I already got some bows and wreath-making stuff to at least decorate their coops!
