Tradition breeds love during the holiday season

Our holiday traditions are the gift that keeps on giving.

Sharing traditions our grandparents and parents passed onto us as well as creating our own traditions strengthens our familial bonds and the love we share.

My parents weren’t very traditional, but my grandparents were. Now that I’m a mother of five, I find myself drawing from their wisdom as my husband & I share all the special little moments with our children.

Especially the silly ones, like giving the kids a box of balloons as a Yule gift! We had a great time welcoming winter Friday night and yes, our house is covered in balloons. Because decades ago, my aunt thought it would be funny to wrap balloons in a giant box and I got to share in the joy of opening it with my cousins.

Not all traditions have to be serious and reverent. Some can just be sheer joy, filled with childish fun.
