The One Big Beautiful Bill extended RECA compensation to people in Missouri for the first time. This is HUGE. Everyone living in these areas knows at least one person who was affected by the radiation exposure at these sites.

I lived in two different zip codes that are covered under RECA for nearly 10 years. My older children are affected, my husband has worked in one of the affected areas, and we know someone who died with one of the cancers covered under RECA after growing up nearly on top of the St. Louis site.

There were so many people at the town hall event, and they are barely a small portion of the masses of people who are affected by this. While the RECA resource expansion will help, it is just the beginning.
