K-9 electronics sleuth retires after eight years of service

This has to be my favorite article so far.

I was given short notice to attend Bonnie the K-9 unit’s retirement party, but I knew I had to go. I brought the kids and we had such a great time meeting Bonnie and her K-9 friends, along with the officers who work with them.

One of the main things that got me was that during her career, she actually saved a child from a scary situation, and that story is going to stick with me for the rest of my life.

I loved interacting with Bonnie, but she was more interested in my children. She just has that connection with little ones. Maybe that’s why she was shifted from electronics detection to becoming a school resource officer before retiring. Her handler noted that helping kids was her true calling and we experienced that first hand.

What a good dog!
