The Bad Day Book’s Parenting Edition is almost here!
This hilarious collection features my story “Locked In the Bedroom” and details how I had to bust through a door with a rollerblade to get to my daughter during a crazy day. I was like Jack in The Shining, only cuter and less psychotic!
What’s great about the Bad Day Book compilation series is that it proves the philosophy that tragedy+time=comedy. Most of my best funny stories come from the worst experiences. And we all have plenty of those, but it takes a certain skill to capture the humor of any situation.
I’ve been upping my comedy writing craft for a few years now. (Ever since the ladies over at Evie Magazine basically designated me “The funny One,” when I freelanced for them, and I was put on some joke articles.)
I had never written real jokes before that. I didn’t think I could, but I’ve always loved being silly and sharing all the funnies. Laughter truly is the best medicine. If you can laugh at yourself, you can handle anything.
I’ve got a home-birthing joke book that I’m sitting on until I figure out how to hatch it, and I’ve got a couple more comedy books I want to crack open and throw at everyone. Maybe this will get it all going, but if not, at least I can laugh at myself.
