The annual gingerbreading was another great success!
Homemade gingerbread is always better. It’s more fun to work with, AND it’s actually edible (unlike those stale store-bought Graham cracker ones).

And hand-mixed cream cheese frosting is the perfect match to enhance the gingery goodness and stick cookie walls together.
Every year my husband’s caves in on him, so he called the latest one a gingerbread teepee.
My youngest boy is more interested in eating the candy than decorating. But I make up with it trying to outpace him with ridiculous winter scenes. (I promise that is not Cookie Monster in a wig crashing into a tree. She’s my gingerbread lady… and she’s ICE SKATING)
My eldest is so over everything festive. The too-cool-teen stage is in full-effect. But the younger 13 year-old is an artist, so she still gets into it.
And my eldest boy… well… he’s a boy. So there’s a spaceship and an alien with 3 boobs…

Somehow, our little village always comes together, even if it’s full of building code violations and neighbors who would make everyone gossip.
May your season be as sweet as the candies on our gingerbread!
