I’ve been screaming it at the top of my proverbial social media lungs

BUT

If you haven’t heard,my space opera novella By the Stars, has been nominated for a Summer Indie Book Award!

When an author receives the news that they are nominated for any kind of award, three things happen.

The first is questioning whether or not there was a mistake: Are you sure they nominated MY book. This isn’t some horrendous mixup, is it?

The second is disbelief:My story? Really? I mean I know I’m partial to it, but there are so many other books out there.

And then comes the third: How are the winners chosen, and what is the prize?

When coming to the third question, an author generally wishes and hopes and prays to all the god that have ever been that the end result will be out of their hands. (At least in my case)

Indie authors promote and promote and promote and it’s hard, tiring, work.So of course in finding out that this award is essentially based on votes I had two reactions.

The first being: Oh fucking hell. Seriously? More? I’ll never be able to stop harassing my readers.

But then it sinks in and the real reaction comes: Ohhhhh, but they’re myyyyyyy readers. And my readers are the BEST readers! They’re loyal and lovely people who I believe in as much as they believe in me. Even if we don’t get all the votes, it will be worth it because the writer/reader relationship will be strengthened.

We’re not there yet. But voting opens September 1st and I hope to see all of you there. (You don’t have to vote for me, but you should hahaha)
