The Golden Rule giveaway winner has been selected and the book is on it’s way! Congratulations to Linda Darlene Kaufman of Kansas.
I want to thank everyone who entered. There were a whopping 649 people who signed up, and I am honored for anyone to show interest in my little story.
Giveaways are the best way to thank readers and grow an audience. They get your name out there without being pushy or deterring sales like an overzealous used car salesman. Most every author just wants their stories to be heard.
I find this era a hilarious conundrum because we have some of the highest literacy rates in the history of man and yet reading isn’t all that popular. Many people merely read signs, texts, and work messages. We (myself incredibly included) often take the written word for granted.
As a word addict I do my best to balance work and life, but my writing time and reading time often seesaw. Fitting my reading time in at the end of the day or an early morning is refreshing, but not always feasible. Whenever I begin to feel overwhelmed by the pressure of my unfinished stories, or the weight of the publishing industry itself, it’s usually when I haven’t been able to sit down and enjoy a good book in a while.
I was going a bit batty last week. Patience is a requirement in the writing world, and my brain refuses to remember that. But yesterday I woke up early and got to plow through a quarter of a book in my to-read pile and I’m already more at ease.
Reading will always be part of a writer’s job; just as adventuring is imperative to the development of a storytellers tales. Not only did I get to read over the weekend but there was hiking, swimming, and exploring to be had.
It’s easy to get lost in your work and caring for your family, but when you surround yourself with the right people you can balance anything.
