When art and creativity is hijacked by politics it suffers. There is nothing more divisive than inserting one-sided ideologies into art and entertainment. In doing so half of the population becomes isolated from your market, and sure you can make a nice buck off of pandering to some people, but it doesn’t lead to longevity in any industry because eventually people get tired of being preached to, whether they agree with you or not.
Mainstream movies, music, and art have become so corporatized that people looking for classic relatable content have walked away from industry darlings. Indie artists work harder and produce better content. I was so happy to speak with Ellen from The Petersons to focus on the positive side of this issue.
