Book Review of How to Raise a Conservative Daughter

I never thought there would come a time when a book like this would appeal to me or be needed. But because the pendulum has swing so far, it is. Logic and reasoning are being left behind in the name of trendy movements that are not based in reality, especially on college campuses and in public education.

When Harvard Law Students protested against Due Process during the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, I really began distancing myself from leftists who don’t seem to understand the importance of our entire justice system’s philosophy that all people are innocent until proven guilty.

Modern day witch trials are something I have no stomach for. Probably because I’m a Pagan woman, but I have no interest in cancel culture or internet mobs which pretend to be judge, jury, and executioner when it comes to individual’s reputations, livelihoods, or their personal lives.

It’s why so many people have been “red pilled.” Apparently a lot of us had forgotten that the political spectrum is a circle, not a line. If you go to far to the left or the right it all comes back to the same place: fascism.

I never thought I’d see the day where democrats are calling for lists to be made of conservatives and punishments for literally being affiliated with a specific party would be dished out, where securing elections would be considered “evil”, or that “science” would become an abused subjective term used to manipulate data and biology in the name of leftism.

I walked away for many many reasons, but mainly because I will never condone legitimate stupidity. So when Regnery publishing asked me to review their latest title, “How to Raise a Conservative Daughter, I figured, sure. Why not? Reading damages ignorance, right?

And here’s what I found. A book based in decency, understanding, and reality.

Instead of working to prevent back-alley abortions, leftism has morphed into a campaign to celebrate and normalize abortion, something that left me damaged for nearly 20 years of MY life. Instead of actually offering equal opportunity for anyone who understands the value of hard work, leftists want UBI just for breathing. The sacred word mother is now considered hate-speech to many leftists, and love-is-love has turned into a movement that sexualizes children.

Entitlement, racism, and corruption are all a major elements of the newly risen leftism that has allowed “peaceful protesters” to burn down cities and murder innocent people. And this book is a tool to combat it.

Self-reliance, confidence, and self-control are all admirable traits in a person, to me. These are all elements that shine through this book. If that’s conservatism, I guess I’m a conservative. The title will not appeal to people who have allowed media boot-lickers to sway their opinion of our political system and its role in our personal lives, but the book itself holds valuable common sense philosophies that echo time-honored wisdom parents need now more than ever.

I have always told my children, “I don’t care if the whole world’s gone crazy, you know how to act right.” I never imagined the world would ACTUALLY go crazy, but when we have libraries apologizing for bringing in storytellers dressed with dildos, it sure seems as if insanity is everywhere.

If only this headline were satire…

Since leftism has gone off its rocker, those of us working to achieve and maintain balance are now conservative by default. Labels are funny like that. I love my children and want to guide them to be their own people. I don’t care what you call me OR them for that matter, I’m going to do what I know is best for my kids, and right now that means educating them on the fallacies being pandered to them from the far-left.

As always I’ll be watching the right too. A parent’s most tiring job is diligence.

But here are some of my favorite quotes from this strongly researched book:

“Religious faith and human freedom are inextricably linked.”

“As parents we need to guard our children and provide for them, otherwise government and society will.”

“Talk to your daughter about the internet and advise her never to put anything online that she wouldn’t be proud to have her mother, grandmother, or a future employer see.”

“Our girls are worth so much more than the lies society tells them.”

“Respect is taught at home. Children learn how to properly relate to authority figures through their relations with their family members and through their faith.”

“We all make mistakes. Your daughter will be no different. But if she believes in something bigger than herself, if she has faith, she can always turn the ship around and begin anew. Government cannot restore wounded souls.”

“Family is where it all begins. Family is the central organizing unit of society, the basic building block of all civilization, especially Western civilization.”

“When family comes first, children flourish.”

“It’s more than a little ironic that wealthy liberals often choose traditional family lifestyles while pushing damaging anti-family policies on people who can least afford the consequences.”

“Dependency fuels leftism. When people have a family they can rely on, they are less likely to rely on government.”

“Family is is the single most important social institution in society. It is also the best defense against poverty, a vehicle for positive relationships, and a source of love and lifelong support.”

“Never in history has there been a freer, more prosperous, and more powerful place than the one we call home.”

“Many colleges and mass media outlets are determined to portray America in the worst possible light.”

“First responders run toward emergencies so the rest of us can run from them.”

“Try as they may, liberals who wish to disparage our country cannot square the reality that millions upon millions of people work their way to prosperity or come here to experience the land of opportunity.”

“Free markets make for free people because they allow individuals to pursue life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, or property, better than any other economic system. That’s why entrepreneurship and innovation are largely an American phenomenon, and oppressive societies like China copy and steal what we produce.”

In America, you are free to disagree. If you don’t like what’s offered, you don’t have to buy it. There are many choices. With socialism, people will have very little, if any, choice.”

“hard work and competition produce opportunity and freedom.”

“America isn’t perfect; it never will be. But there is no reason to ignore the good in our country or erase our past.”

“What’s unique about America is not that we had slavery, like many places in the world, but that we fought a war against ourselves to end it.”

“Parts of the Middle East and Africa still have slavery today, and the Western Hemisphere had slavery long before the first Europeans arrived, including among the American Indians, Aztecs, and Mayans. America is imperfect, but not irredeemable.”

“Hard work is central to both the American Dream and personal development. It provides dignity and fulfillment. Work is an opportunity to help others, earn income, and support one’s family.”

“Every woman must follow her calling.”

“When you are taught the value of hard work as a child, you are less likely to want your earnings taken away as an adult and handed to people who didn’t work for what they want.”

“If you want to raise a successful daughter, you are going to have to encourage her work ethic and show her how it pays off.”

“Girls are different from boys. That’s not just a feeling; it’s a biological fact.”

“The truth is that girls and boys are not the same, and there is nothing wrong with that. A female’s differences do not make her weak. They are her strengths.”

“There is so much dignity in motherhood, so much beauty and strength.”

“As women, we are the givers of life.”

“We live in the most free and prosperous country in the world. To tell women that they cannot succeed in their career without the government’s help is absurd.”

“None of us is perfect, and we all deserve grace.”

“Teach your daughter to set high standards for herself and her body.”

“Money is not the root of all evil. The love of or lust for money is.”

“Numerous studies have shown that conservatives give more to charity than liberals. Conservatives believe it’s the job of individuals to help others, not government.”

“Individual choice always trumps government coercion.”

“When we give, we grow. There’s less need for government and dependence when we volunteer.”

“There’s a big difference between choosing to do something and being forced to do it.”

“Young people are more favorable to socialism because colleges refuse to teach the disastrous side of Marxism.”

“If feminists are so worried about women’s being being treated as defenseless, dependent second-class citizens, then they should invest more energy in supporting the Second Amendment.”

“The most important element to successful writing is clarity.”

“There is nothing better than expressing the truth of ourselves, especially when we are in conflict.”

“Parenting is a marathon, not a sprint.”
