Vol. 12 of The Luminous Literary Magazine is here!

This is a special labor of love that I facilitate through my volunteer teaching with the SHINE St. Charles homeschooling co-op.

The publication takes work from homeschooled students (anywhere in the country) age 10-18, and is run by the high school students in my class.

Every year of teaching is a learning experience, not just for my students, but for myself as well. I am incredibly proud of all of the kids who submitted their stories, poetry, and artwork.

I am especially happy to have had the opportunity to work with the students in my class. They had to bear with me as I changed the format and publishing route to get the work available on Amazon. We’ve resolved issues along the way, and I can’t believe the semester is almost over!

One of the best parts of being a homeschooling mother teaching at a homeschooling co-op is that I can hear directly from parents and do my best to cater to the needs of individual students/families. There is no bureaucratic intrusion telling us that we have to follow some outdated or unnecessary guidelines.

Instead, my students get to learn from someone who is currently working in the field of journalism and publishing.

(And I get to learn how little I really know when they question me haha)

Best of all, one of the seniors in my class recently has a poem published with the Arrow Rock Literary Journal!
