Maybe I’m showing my age, but twice this week I found a slew of comments on my social media pages that I didn’t even know existed.
I work on a computer all day. I’ve been at the writing game for over 8 years now. One would think I am technology literate enough to know that notifications pick and choose what is seen.
It’s easy for someone in my line of work to get paranoid and think there is some plot to hide these things from me so I don’t respond and get more feedback based on my friendly nature and willingness to converse about my strengths and weaknesses. It’s also easy to step back and remind myself that I am just one little small-name author. It’s probably just the algorithms. Haha
But in case anyone else is as busy as I am, and maybe as organized as chaos allows as well, I want to remind everyone to look past notifications.
If you like to interact or really see all the comments and posts that include you, each social media outlet has their notifications that lay out some of it, AND the back end where you have to find your specific comments in the information tabs that lay them all out.
Yesterday I was fiddling around YouTube and found a ton of unanswered comments. Then I came here to check my site and found MORE.
It’s embarrassing for me because I don’t use social media to just talk to the air.
I come online to connect with others. To explore different ideas and standpoints. I want to reach out to readers and listen to what they have to say.
I want to apologize to anyone who has messaged, commented, or reached out to me with no response. It’s not easy to respond to everyone, but I always do my best to because I appreciate when someone takes a moment from their busy lives to say something to me.
It might take some time, but I go through and respond to everything as best I can and will increase my efforts.
