I had the honor of speaking to a group of young writers at my local cultural arts center’s summer writing camp, and it was so fun. I like hearing what the kids have to say, so I told them a little about me, but then spent a good deal of time asking about them and their writing.

I shared some of my work and then gave them a short writing activity so they could share their work.

Writing is all about sharing ideas, stories, and dreams. It’s always inspiring to discuss it with an audience, especially young writers.

I always encourage professionals to go out and speak to students about what they do. The best teacher is experience, and sharing our experiences helps to lend insight as we go. So whatever you do, I hope you’re having some fun and sharing some awesomeness.
