2,000 is something, right?

A couple of years ago, I hit a pretty cool publishing milestone. I had my 1,000th piece of writing published. There was even a cake to say so.

Some writers count how many words they write, or how many words they get published. To me, it’s more about the work they make up. I keep track of what gets published.

Books, articles, essays, poems (yes, the occasional poem… blah), once they’re published, they’re part of my success, but not before that. Never before that.

A couple of weeks ago, #2,000 was published, and I didn’t even notice because I was so deep in the work. It wasn’t until I took some time to check off all the recent publishing insanity that it hit me.

October was an incredibly busy month, and the holiday season is here, so I’m in full-on fun mode. There is plenty of writing to do in every season, but I don’t think a cake is necessary this time.

Maybe when I surpass 5,000, we’ll have a party or something.
