Snow Turkey

December’s here!

While it’s time for peppermints and reindeer and Joy to the World, it came in a whirlwind of snow over Thanksgiving break. And I love snow. That means playing outside in the cold and throwing snowballs, sledding, and most importantly, snow-sculpting.

Being from Missouri, we don’t usually get a lot of Thanksgiving snow. We honestly don’t usually have a snowy Yuletide either. But my husband is from Wisconsin, and snow follows him.

So my thirteen-year-old and I slipped away from our turkey dinner to carve out a snow turkey. I really wanted to make its feathers way bigger, but she repeatedly hit me with snowballs right in the back of the neck where the ice runs down your back, and my father-in-law kept holding up pie in the window to taunt us back in the house, so meet Todd, the snow turkey. He’s not perfect, but we like him.

I think he’s still standing today too haha

Not only did we get enough snow up there, but while visiting family, we had to stay an extra night, and when we got home, there was plenty of Missouri Thanksgiving snow. So much that it caved in part of our chicken run. (No birds were harmed, and I fixed everything up today)

It’s been a snowy season already, and I can’t wait to have more snow fun! I hope everyone has something or someone warm to snuggle up with after playing in the cold.

What a lovely story! You can really feel the joy you feel when December arrives and the snow comes. Todd, the snow turkey, sounds adorable, and it’s so sweet how you turn those moments into family memories. I hope the snow season continues and that you always have something warm to keep you company after all that fun.
