I don’t know why this story makes me so happy. Maybe it’s because my sister has fertility issues and struggled just to have her 2 little girls, or maybe it’s because she used to cry when she heard Mariah Carey’s “All I want For Christmas Is You Baby,” (because it had an entirely different meaning to her after suffering through miscarriages) and it’s just about that time of year for carols and annoyingly cute songs.
Either way, it’s odd how society looks to celebrities to drive pop-culture. There are plenty of couples who have experienced pregnancy loss, yet it takes someone with a little more weight to make everyone aware of an issue that can be treated.
Jame Van Der Beek wanted to “spread the word” about a specific cervical issue that can be overcome with the proper medical care, so I’m hoping to help more couples by word-spreading as much as I can.
There is so much to be thankful for this time of year, and babies hold their own special little gratitude inducing power.
