Cut out the middleman and learn through experience? I got my first job when I was 15. I wanted one sooner but the law wouldn’t allow it. My diligent work ethic wasn’t born from sitting in a desk and learning about dead men, it came from doing, experimenting, trying, failing, trying again, and then reading what interested me at the end of the day.
Public schools seem to be recognizing how this leads to success. But I am always wary of governments which work to takeover good ideas, so maybe adding student work programs will be good, maybe it will be just another way for politicians to control what we do and where we work. Who knows? Read on to figure out what the heck I’m rambling about.
