Just to get you going, read some of the reviews:

-I really enjoyed this book quite a lot. The characters are complex and realistic, and the story is spun with twists and turns that will keep even the most well-read bibliophile guessing. The format, two generations of a family, telling three inter-linked stories from the points of view of a mother, and then her two daughters subsequently, is refreshing jump-start to the three-act story.

The story is also super accessible, written with wonderful imagery and dialogue, but in a way that creates a comfortable atmosphere for any aged reader. This is a must-read for any sci-fi/fantasy reader!

-I was impressed by the book from the first page because Baumgartner fills readers in on the back-story pretty quickly, and then moves forward with the plot. The author manages to accomplish this effortlessly throughout the entire book.

The next thing I noticed was how easy it was for me to relate to the characters. It did not take me long to become emotionally invested in the characters, especially the female protagonists, because the dialogue and their reactions to events were so realistic. I found myself wanting to “check-up” on the family frequently to see how they were faring and what new situations they found themselves in.

Baumgartner did an excellent job of describing the setting; it is descriptive enough so that readers “see” where the story takes place, but not so descriptive that it detracted from the plot. I also noticed that the author did not devote several pages to the history and culture of the alien race. Readers learned more about the race’s culture as the humans in the story learned about the different aspects of the alien culture. I think this adds to the plot’s realism, and it allows readers to stay engaged; it is kind of like watching a movie, because you are not sure what is going to happen until it happens.

Embracing Entropy is one of those science fiction books that has an epic plot, but it is delivered in an easy-to-read package to satisfy readers who may not have the time to devote to an epic. If you are looking for a science fiction that is as clean as “The Host”, with characters that are more realistic and engaging, you do not want to pass up reading “Embracing Entropy” by Jessica Marie Baumgartner.

If those don’t convince you, I don’t know what will! haha

Happy Reading

Harley
