My story, “Sweet Gift,” is going to be featured on the Chicken Soup for the Soul Podcast next week! I love being able to share true events in order to uplift others and give people a nudge to share their stories or reach out within their neighborhood.

I was a little reluctant to write this one because I don’t like talking about my charitable acts. I don’t do good things for publicity. I simply cannot live without remembering those less fortunate than myself.

It doesn’t matter if it’s because of my unstable childhood, or the struggles I faced in my teenage years. It’s just a part of who I am and I believe the spirit of giving lives in everyone. I’ve seen people do more for others, complete strangers, than I’ve experienced their weaker sides.

I’m hoping my sweet story will bring out more happy tales so we can remember the better aspects of humanity and release the culture of self-hatred that is cycling through society. I set my sights pretty high, but I’m not often disappointed.
